This series of sculptures is made to inspire, engage, and lift the spirit. The sculptures are non-objective and do not represent any specific thing , but they may stir memories or feelings about life experiences and relationships that are unique to one’s life experience.
I am inspired by the art and sensuousness of the natural world, with its infinity of dynamic forms and the magical properties of light and color. The use of curved forms suggests motion, particularly when viewing painted figures at different perspectives, and reflected images connect with the surroundings.
Sculptures in this series are made in a similar way. Experimentation with paper cut outs and model building is the core process that leads to final metal fabrication and finishing. Flat 2D shapes are designed for transformation into the finished 3D form, and used to experiment with placement and color. Critical choice of materials and exacting engineering processes are essential because most of the sculptures are designed for indoor and outdoor display. All of the sculpture designs in the series can be fabricated in both small and large scale, with typical sizes as shown.
